In recent years, rates of youth volunteering have noticeably declined, particularly among younger age groups. Many young people have stopped participating in community service or charitable initiatives, often due to competing academic pressures, lack of awareness of opportunities, or the perception that volunteering is a chore rather than a meaningful contribution. This decline reflects a worrying gap in fostering a strong sense of citizenship and social responsibility among the next generation. If young people disengage from their communities early on, it becomes harder to instill values of empathy, civic duty, and collective action later in life. To address this, we have created Youthribbon, in order to redefine what service is to young people in the hopes that they will join us in making a change in our communities!
